Matiti  denotes summer in te reo Māori, of which there are seven distinct phases.  The label depicts some of the tohu (signs) of change during this winemaking season.

This wine is a collective project created by six wāhine Māori. The grapes are grown by Alistair and Karla at Grava Vineyard in Martinborough (BioGro certified organic) and nurtured under the korowai of Papawhakaritorito Trust, with the Hua Parakore pillars of indigenous farming at the heart of the kaupapa.

Matiti greets the glass with fine, persistent bubbles – like ngā whetū shimmering in the night sky. On the nose, lifted aromas of citrus blossom, lime zest and just-ripe nectarine rise with a note of crushed seashells. The palate is alive and dynamic: vibrant acidity carries through juicy mandarin and green apple, balanced by a soft leesy texture and a hint of the ocean evoking freshness that fits with the seasons of summer. Matiti.  Unfiltered and unfined – a wine very much of place, people, and process.

Chill well and open gently. Best enjoyed in good company – with kai moana simple summer salad from the māra. He waina ora – a living wine – so expect each bottle to carry its own unique breath.
